"I called my new collection 6 Easy Pieces because the furniture is classic and easy to use," Andrée Putman says about her new line for Pucci International in New York. "The novel feature is that the furniture is almost oversized, especially the couch."
The collection is reminiscent of the 1940s, but has modern surprises. "The desk becomes a vanity |

when a small round mirror recessed in the wood top is flipped up," Putman notes.
The Paris-based designer chose rift-cut European oak, which has a wide grain and, as she explains, "takes to color beautifully." The wood is hand-rubbed with stains ranging from pale beiges to deep browns. The furniture is made in the United States.
